The Data State Inspectorate informs that Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 on the protection of individuals with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data will apply from 25 May 2018 and repealing Directive 95/46 EC (General Data Protection Regulation). Therefore, to promote public awareness of the requirements of the General Data Protection Regulation and its application in the processing and protection of data of natural persons, the Data State Inspectorate regularly organizes informative lectures and ensures representation in seminars, discussions and conferences organized by other institutions and merchants.

Taking into account the interest of data processing and protection of natural persons, on October 4 and 5, 2017 the Data State Inspectorate organized an informative lecture for employees of the State Revenue Service, provided representation at the Cyber Security Conference “Cyber chess 2017” and the discussion organized by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Latvia, in which representatives of the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Regional Development and the State Regional Development Agency participated, providing information on the implementation of the General Data Protection Regulation and the current regulatory framework for the processing and protection of personal data.
