WHAT IS THE DATA STATE INSPECTORATE?
The Data State Inspectorate was established on 2 January 2001. Since 27 February 2020, Jekaterina Macuka has served as the Director and the head of the Data State Inspectorate. The Data State Inspectorate is responsible for overseeing the protection of personal data.
WHAT IS PERSONAL DATA?
Personal data encompasses not only an individual's given name, surname, date of birth, personal identity number, address of residence, and personal photograph, but also any data that can be used to identify or distinguish a specific person (for instance, a car registration number can also qualify as personal data).
If a person discovers that information containing their personal data has been published on the internet without their consent, they are required to report such a breach to the Data State Inspectorate. Additionally, if an institution, company, or organization fails to provide an individual with information about themselves, which the respective entity possesses, the Data State Inspectorate assists the individual in preventing the breach and holding the responsible party accountable.
The Data State Inspectorate is empowered to impose penalties on both legal entities and natural persons found guilty of violations related to personal data protection. Decisions made by the Data State Inspectorate can be challenged and appealed in court.
WHERE IS THE DATA STATE INSPECTORATE?
