Draft General data Protection Regulation — opportunities and responsibilities for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs); Rights and risks for minors (DPSME)

On 1 December 2018, the “General data Protection Regulation — opportunities and responsibilities for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs)” project was launched; rights and risks for minors. ', acronym DPSME, (tender Nr.RE C-RDAT-TRAI-Aga-2017), implementation of Project 814774. . Objective of the project: to improve the preparedness and awareness of small and medium-sized enterprises and minors of a specific risk group (13 to 17 years of age) on the General data Protection Regulation (Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 on the protection of individuals with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data and repealing Directive 95/46/EC (General data Protection Regulation).

Lead and sole partner of the project: data State Inspectorate. . The data State Data State Inspectorate but informative supporters have been attracted (Latvian Association of certified persons data Protection specialists, Latvian Chamber of Commerce and industry, municipalities (Riga, Jelgava, Cēsis, Jēkabpils, Ventspils, Valmiera, Daugavpils, Liepāja, Ludza)).

Project implementation time: 24 months (1 December 2018 to 30 November 2020)

Activities: Addressing representatives of small and medium-sized enterprises and minors of Latvia in the form of training seminars, concluding by organising a conference (for small and medium-sized entrepreneurs) on topics discussed in seminars and a competition (for minors) on lessons learned. The project will develop recommendations and informative materials for the implementation of training on the application of the General data Protection Regulation and related personal data processing issues. 1. Ten (4-6 hours) training seminars for small and medium-sized business representatives will be organised in the project. Two seminars are planned in each planning region of Latvia, namely Kurzeme region (Ventspils, Liepaja), Zemgale region (Jelgava, Jekabpils), Latgale region (Daugavpils, Ludza), Vidzeme region (Valmiera, Cesis), Riga region (Riga, Jurmala). 2. A one-day conference is planned as the end of seminars in Riga in autumn 2019, during which discussions will take place on topics discussed in seminars on protection of personal data. Video-broadcast will be performed during the conference. 3. Within the framework of the project, ten (4-6 hour) training seminars for minors aged 13-17 will be organised during the second stage of the project, and two seminars are planned in each planning region of Latvia, namely Kurzeme region (Ventspils, Liepāja), Zemgale region (Jelgava, Jekabpils), Latgale region (Daugavpils, Ludza), Vidzeme region (Valmiera, Cēsis), Riga region (Riga, Jurmala). 4. At the end of the seminar training for minors (13-17), a one-day finale of the competition is planned.

The total cost of the project is EUR 120 004.91, including the financing for the data State Inspectorate of EUR 96 000.00, which is covered by European Union funds. In addition to the Data State Inspectorate of the data State Inspectorate, funding from State budget resources in the amount of EUR 24,004.91 is planned within the framework of the project.
